DIY : Watermelon Cake Recipe
This Recipe I came acorss on handmadecharlotte , is a perfect summer recipe : Watermelon Cake !
It is not based on watermelon , nor does it taste like it, but its’ name was inspired from the colors of ingredients used!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your watermelon cake:
- PillsÂbury Sugar Cookie dough
- Green food coloring
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 cup granÂuÂlated sugar
- 1 teaÂspoon vanilla
- 1 cup green grapes (cut into halves)
- 2 — 3 cups diced strawberries
- 10 ounce jar of strawÂberry preserves
- 1/4 cup black M&Ms or raisins
start by preÂheating the oven to 350 degrees. Add green food colÂorÂing to one tube of PillsÂbury Sugar Cookie dough and mix well.
Spray the botÂtom of a cheeseÂcake pan or small pizza pan with non-stick cookÂing spray or line the botÂtom with parchÂment paper. Spread the dough evenly in the pan. Bake for 16 — 20 minÂutes. Allow crust to cool.
Mix the cream cheese, granÂuÂlated sugar and vanilla together in a bowl. (Keep refrigÂerÂated until ready to use.)
Cut the green grapes in half and dice the strawÂberÂries. (Keep refrigÂerÂated until ready to use)
When the sugar cookie crust is cool, remove it from the pan and spread 2/3 of the cream cheese mixÂture on its botÂtom and around the top edge. Put the remainÂing cream cheese mixÂture in a pipÂing bag to pipe between the fruits once you have them in place.
Line the outer edge with green grape halves and fill the cenÂter with diced strawberries.
Using a spoon, spread the strawÂberry preÂserves lightly over the top of the diced strawÂberÂries.
Pipe the remainÂing cream cheese mixÂture in a line between the grapes and the strawberries.
Finally, put the M&M candies (used as watermelon seeds) randomly on the strawberry-filled center.
Have a blast!
