The Tim Hortons NHL Hockey Challenge 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs is a free-to-play promotional contest running from April 18, 2026 until the end of the NHL playoffs .
It is open to Canadian residents aged 13+ (or legal age with requirements for minors) who must have both the Tim Hortons Tims Rewards account .
Each day of the challenge, participants are required to first complete a skill-testing mathematical question before gaining access to gameplay. After that, users select three NHL players , one from each of three player groups (Standard Groups) .
These selections are locked in once submitted and are based on real NHL playoff games happening during that day’s Daily Challenge Period .
Grand Prizes : 5 total prizes, including:
$5,000 CAD (1st place) $1,000 CAD in Tims gift cards $750 CAD in Tims gift cards $500 CAD in Tims gift cards $250 CAD in Tims gift cards
Hot Streak Prizes : free
Daily Prizes (Points) : 25, 50, or 100 Tims Rewards points.
Scoring system, streaks, and prizes
Rewards are earned when selected players score goals in real NHL games , including overtime (but excluding shootouts). Depending on performance, participants can earn Tims Rewards points , such as 25, 50, or 100-point prizes , based on how many of their selected players score.
A separate feature called the Hot Streak Prize rewards consistency: if at least one selected player scores a goal in seven consecutive days , the user earns free coffee or tea for seven days .
Additionally, players accumulate Leaderboard Points throughout the playoffs, and the top five participants at the end of the challenge win grand prizes , including up to $5,000 CAD cash and Tim Hortons gift cards. All picks are final, strictly time-limited, and subject to official rules and verification.
