DIY Colorful Candles

If you have old broken crayons at home that you would like to recycle, here is a fun idea to create coloured candle wax!

You’ll need:

  • Dixie cups
  • wax
  • crayons
  • wicks
  • votives
  • popsicle sticks
  • microwave and a plate stand

Pour some wax into a dixie cup and put in the microwave for a minute. Stir and pour a thin layer into the bottom of a votice and place the candle wick in the center then let it harden.

Time to use your crayons! Use one crayon per colour. Fill the Dixie cups with wax, then top with small pieces of your crayon. Put in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave again for 2 minutes.

Prop your votives (with wicks) on your plate stand and pour in the colored wax. The goal is to create angled layers of color. Let the first layer dry for 20-30 minutes

Turn the votives around, and pour the second layer so you get another angle. Let it dry for twenty to thirty minutes. Place the votive flat on your workspace to pour in the third layer.

Et voilà!
