DIY : Melted Snowman Cookies
As Christmas is only few weeks away, I decided to look for a delight recipe that turns to be original.
So today, I came up with an idea that will impress your friends and family : these adorable marshmallows melted snowman cookies!
What you will need to make these cookies:
- Large Marshmallows
- Royal Icing (Choose a Recipe from All Recipes )
- Icing Colors (Food Color or Wilton Gel Colors of your choice. You can find the Wilton Colors at a Craft Store)
- Silver Dragees, Mini Chocolate Chips, or other little candy pieces you could use for buttons and accessories on your snowman. (You can pipe these details in royal icing OR use accessories. For kids… accessories are easier)
- Parchment Paper
You need to let your dough chill for at least 4 hours. Within this, get your work surface ready. You’ll need flour, cookies sheets & parchment paper and a spoon. Make sure to pre heat your oven.
Use your spoon to scoop a small ice cream scooped size of dough and sprinkle it with flour. Don’t miss this step, as it’s very important if you don’t want the dough to stick to your hands ;)
Now, roll your dough into a ball and start to press it to make it look flat. Please note that there will be no right shape, the main goal of this recipe is to make the cookie look like a puddle.
Then, go ahead and repeat that shape for every cookie you have. And make sure to get them all looking the same, but on more time, they don’t have to look exactly well shaped.
Now the icing :)
- 3 tb Wilton meringue powder
- 1 lb Sifted powdered sugar
- 6 tb Water
If you are using a counter top mixer, beat all the ingredients at a low speed for 7 to 10 minutes until you obtain peaks.
If you are using a hand held mixer, it will take you more than 12 minutes.
After you get stiff peaks, transfer abour 1/2 into a bowl and add 1/2 a teaspoon of water at a time while stirring until the consistency is slightly runny.
Here is a great tip to know if your consistency is right or not :
Using a knife, scoop a little of your runny icing and hold above the bowl. If it drips, count until 10. By the count of 10, the icing that dripped down should meld into the icing in the bowl so there is no indication of where your drips landed! ;)
Put your icing in a container covered with a wet paper towel and a lid.
Ta dah ! They are ready !
