Christmas mood is everywhere, and everybody is getting ready, in one way or another, to celebrate it! It’s a precious family time, and even if it doesn’t snow during holidays in Australia, I can’t wait for this celebration to happen!
I found a Candy Cane Jello recipe that is JUST perfect for this period of the year & that will amaze your guests and family!
Ingredients:
– 2 cups of 100 proof peppermint schnapps
– 2 cups of boiling water
– 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
– 3 envelopes of Knox unflavored gelatin
– 3 oz. cherry flavored Jell-O Gelatin
– 5 cup (1.2 liter) container
– 1 candy cane cookie cutter
Preparation :
Step 1 : Make white peppermint schnapps gelatin:
Simply pour 1 cup of peppermint schnapps into a bowl or a container. Then sprinkle 2 envelopes of unflavored gelatin over the liqueur.
Let it stand for about 2 minutes. Then add 1 cup of boiling water and stir until your gelatin completely dissolves. To finish, pour the sweetened condensed milk and stir very well.
Step 2 : Make Cherry Peppermint Gelatin
To start your second step of this recipe, you will need to pour 1 cup of peppermint schnapps into another bowl or container. Once again, sprinkle 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin over the liqueur. Let it stand for about 1 minute this time. Then, add the cherry flavored Jell-O and pour 1 cup of boiling water. To finish this step stir until your gelatin completely dissolves. Please note that you can also use Strawberry or Raspberry flavored Jell-O instead of cherry. I love cherry… :)
Step 3 : Create the white and red layers:
Start by washing and drying the mold. Spray the inside of the mold with a little bit of vegetable oil. Make sure to wipe any excess oil.
Then, pour 3/4 cup of white gelatin into the mold. Place your container in the freezer for about 15 to 20 minutes until the gelatin is firm.
As soon as the white gelatin is firm, pour 3/4 cup  of the red gelatin on top. Let in the freezer for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 4 : Refrigerate the layered peppermint gelatin:
Keep adding the same amount of white & red gelatin to create the layers. When you get to the last one, pour all the remaining white gelatin and place the container in the refrigerator.
Step 5 : Remove the layered peppermint gelatin:Â
Once the gelatin is firm, place a cutting board over the open side of the mold. Then all you need to do is flip the mold and cutting board together!
Step 6 : Slice the layered peppermint gelatin :
Using a warm knife, slice about 2 cm a thick piece of Gelatin and lay it down on the cutting board.
Use one hand to make the cut when slicing the gelatin as you want the other hand to hold the slice.
Step 7 : Cut out the candy cane jello shots:
Use a candy cane cookie cutter, cut out candy cane jello shots out of the slices of peppermint gelatin. Please make sure that the cuts are done in an angle in order to mimic the layers of a candy cane. ;)
Ta-dah! Your candy cane jello shots are ready! All you have to do now is to place them on a plate :)
